How does this EQ profile creator work?
Sound Match asks about your listening device, purpose, goal and intensity, with relevant follow-up questions about bass, speaker size, dynamics or space. It uses the inspected Echo Sound Match recipe to generate a conservative 12-band starting profile.
Is Sound Match a hearing test or AutoEq correction?
No. It creates a preference-based starting point from your answers. It does not measure hearing or headphones. Use the Headphone EQ Finder for published corrections for an exact measured headphone model.
Can I download the profile for free?
Yes. Download an Echo-compatible JSON profile or readable EQ settings without signing up. Import the JSON from Echo’s profile menu. The format follows the inspected app source; installed app versions and feature availability can differ.
What happens if I skip a question?
Skipped answers stay marked as skipped. The recipe uses conservative defaults without presenting them as your stated preferences. Changing an earlier answer clears dependent choices so old answers cannot silently carry into a different listening setup.
Which effects are included in the free profile?
The profile contains 12-band EQ, restrained Bass Boost when relevant, and a gentle Virtualizer setting if you choose wider space for headphones or earbuds. Loudness boost, limiter, compressor and Auto EQ remain off. A dynamics choice can add a follow-up suggestion but does not enable that Pro effect.
Is the browser preview identical to Echo?
The browser approximates the EQ and bass shape. Echo uses Android audio effects, and its Bass Boost and Virtualizer can sound different. The preview does not simulate Android spatial processing or Pro dynamics. Try the downloaded profile with familiar audio in the app before keeping it.
Are my answers or audio uploaded?
The questionnaire, recipe and audio preview run in your browser. Answers and filenames are not included in our fixed tool-use analytics events. Nothing is saved to an account; reloading clears your answers and audio selection.
